The Challenge

Measure the thrust profile of rockets (Force vs Time) in order to understand and characterize the forces generated by using various types of fuels and additives, rocket configurations, and control variables. Capture data during research, development, and testing of the rocket for iterative design improvements.

Digital Load Cell Solution for Thrust Force Measurement

Our solution, offers a thrust force sensor in an 8" x 8" or 15" x 18" size. It can be connected with our USB sensor interface with either a 1 Khz data output rate (DI-1000UHS-1K) or a 50 Khz data output rate (Di-1000U-10K).

The DI-1000UHS-1K interface can be connected to a PC or Tablet running Win 8/10 and is powered by the USB port of the PC. Run our LoadVUE Pro (LV-1000) software to capture and display data LIVE in real time at up to 1 khz.

The the DI-1000UHS-10K interface offers capture rate up to 50 Khz but needs to be powered but connected via the USB port. Our LV-10000HS-10K software to captures data at up to 50 KHz and dmps the data to a CSV file and on screen as a force-time plot.

Impact Force Measurement

The Thrust Force Measurement Kit comes with an impact sensor with a platform and a base, a USB Sensor Interface with 1 KHz data update rate and LoadVUE Pro (LV-1000) software that can handle data rates  up to 1 Khz - live - and allows you to display, log and plot data on a Windows PC or Tablet. A minumum 8 GB of RAM and a recent model PC with Win 8/10 is recommended for this application.

Impact Force Measurement Software with Graphs Plots and Data Logs

The base LoadVUE Pro software allows a user to display the applied force in real time and do a force vs. time plot, capture the peak and low forces that occur during the test, log the data to a comma separated file as well as add user defined data to the report as needed to append the file with useful identifiers for the test. The software also allows the user to define the time span of interest for the plot as well as overlay previously captured data sets in order to compare one test to another.

This kit comes with a thrust force sensor with a platform and a base, a USB Sensor Interface with up to 50 KHz data update rate and LoadVUE Pro (LV-1000HS-10K) high speed software that can handle data rates up to 50 Khz and allow you to display, log and plot data on a Windows PC or Tablet. A minumum 8 GB of RAM and a recent model PC with Win 8/10 is recommended for this application. 

The high speed LoadVUE Pro software allows a user to capture the data for a short period of time in CSV format and display the force vs. time plot at up to 50 KHz (selectable by user). 

LoadVUE Pro High Speed 10K Software

LoadVUE Pro LV-1000

The software allows a user to select different data capture rates up to 50 KHz. It is written to focus its resources on capturing data at the highest speeds possible, sl it is does not display the force vs. time plot as a live X-Y plot. It captures the data for the amount of time specified and then dumps the data to a file as well as onto the screen. Once the data is captured, you can zoom in and out of the plot to focus in on the area of interest.
