USB Load Cells

USB load cells provide internal processing that limits the need for external signal conditioning and processing. These units are available in a variety of sizes to suit various design and engineering solutions.

Since the majority of force calculations are handled within the USB load cell, it is very close to a plug-in and measure setup. Some calibrations must be made, but the settings can be stored within the device. In most cases, the USB unit can be connected directly to a computer and quickly provide readings without the need for additional software.

USB Load Cells Provide Other Advantages

Capacitive load cell designs provide benefits when used with digital technology. Unlike hydraulic load cells, capacitive designs require little power input and offer a wide applicable force range. In some cases, USB load cells are more accurate than hydraulic or piezo cells.

For increased flexibility, a USB load cell can be coupled with a wireless setup. This approach allows for the installation of measuring equipment in areas where it is impractical to run connection cables. A wireless hub can handle four load cells simultaneously for situations that require multiple readings. This data can then be processed and tracked with the aid of computer software.

Loadstar Sensors, Inc. makes digital and analog USB load cells. We also have two versions of our processing software and stock a variety of wireless network accessories.
