When using battery powered (or externally powered) interfaces (like DI-1000 or DQ-4000), sometimes you may notice that the mouse pointer jumps around erratically all over the screen. This is due to the fact that the interface may already be streaming data and Windows incorrectly identifies the device as a Microsoft Serial Ballpoint mouse.
This can be fixed by changing the Windows registry as follows:
- Open the Windows Registry Editor (Start..Run...Regedit)
- Locate the branch under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\sermouse
- Change the key value Start from 3 to 4 (To do this right click on Start and choose 'Modify.' You can keep the default option as Hexadecimal)
You need administrative access to make registry changes.
